19th century Provence Farmhouse, sleeps 5. Large private pool, 11m x 5.5m. 15km coast

This charming nineteenth century Provence farmhouse is situated in the district of Grasse known as Saint Antoine. The garden is delightful; it is south facing and has many exotic trees such as palms, mandarin, kaki (Sharon fruit) and figs. It is also enclosed, large (3500m²), and very secluded. The swimming pool is in a lovely setting and is particularly large for a private house. It has a security alarm. There is a spacious terrace around the pool and another terrace with a barbecue for outdoor dining next to the house. There is an electronic gateway and parking within the property. The house backs onto another property but they do not overlook one another.
The interior is of a simple standard and has the old-fashioned charm of an authentic French farmhouse. It is furnished with traditional country furniture and some of the décor is a bit dated. However, the house has satellite television, a DVD and CD player, Wi-Fi and there is air-conditioning in both the bedrooms. This property is in a great location, an oasis of calm whilst being in the town of Grasse. It represents excellent value for money.

Accommodation
On the ground floor there is a kitchen with 4-ring hob and oven, and fridge-freezer. This room has an attractive old fireplace. The kitchen leads through to a dining area and a few steps up from here is the sitting room. This is a small room with comfortable seating and a satellite television with English channels, DVD and CD player. Also on the ground floor, there is a shower room with shower and washing machine. The W.C. is separate. On the first floor, there is a large bedroom with a wide double bed, 160cm. Bedroom two is on the second floor, accessible up an open-tread staircase unprotected on one side. It is another good-sized room and has twin beds. Next to this bedroom is a small room (photo no. 8) which has a sofa-bed which may be used if requested in advance.

Situation
The house is in an excellent location conveniently situated for walking to local shops. It is about 1km from the nearest restaurant, La Bastide Saint Antoine, which is famous throughout France (lovely but very expensive!). There are more everyday restaurants in the vicinity. The centre of Grasse, world famous for its perfumes, is about 2km. The town is above 300m and its altitude gives a fresher climate than down on the coast. The old town is very interesting and full of picturesque winding streets with 17th century buildings and hidden squares with cafés and fountains. Grasse now has an excellent rail connection to the coast; there is a large free car park at the station and regular trains go to Cannes and along the coast. There is also a regular bus service to the neighbouring towns and picturesque villages. Biot, Mouans Sartoux, Auribeau sur Siagne and Mougins are all within about 20 minutes. For those interested in art, there are numerous world-class galleries to visit such as the Maeght Foundation of modern art in St Paul de Vence. Also, Renoir’s museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer and the Matisse collection in Nice. There are tennis courts in Grasse and several golf courses within about 5km. This is a great area for hiking and a famous marked trail, the GR 51 known as the Balcony of the Côte d’Azur runs through the hills just outside Grasse. The coast is about 15km and there is an excellent choice of beaches at Mandelieu, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins and Cannes. Nice airport is about 22km.

Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided. Refundable damage deposit EUR 150 cash. Electricity is included. Final clean EUR 25 compulsory.
