Cottage, sleeps 4. 50m beach.
Weekly rental EUR 400 - 750 |
This delightful cottage is in a superb position in a quaint little fishing village. It is set back from the beach, and has lovely glimpses of the sea from some of the rooms. There is a small, enclosed patio-garden with a barbecue and garden furniture for outdoor dining, and there is a parking space nearby. The interior is charming and has lots of character: there are exposed stone walls and there is a fireplace with wood-burning stove. The cottage is attractively decorated and has a light and cheerful atmosphere. We think this is a great place for a holiday, in the heart of a typical Breton seaside village which has not been commercialised. |

Accommodation
On the ground floor there is a combined living and dining room with comfortable seating, wood-burning stove, television with U.K.channels, video and CD player. This room opens onto the patio-garden. There is a second sitting room, which is small and cosy and has a sofa bed for one person, which could be used as a third bedroom if required. Also on the ground floor is a shower room with a large showerhead and a W.C. On the first floor, there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with twin beds. Both rooms have views of the sea. There is another shower room and W.C. A cot and a high chair are available upon request.

Situation
Lechiagat is in a pretty region of south-west Brittany known as Cornouaille, about 30km to the south of Quimper. One of the similarities it has with the English Cornwall is the extensive coastal path which runs through Lechiagat. The cottage is in the village within easy walking distance of the boulangerie and other local shops. It is 50m to the nearest beach, but Lechiagat also has another big sandy beach, more suitable for swimming, just a short walk from the property (about 400m). There is also a sailing school and most water sports are available. It is about a 700m walk over the bridge to the larger fishing port of Le Guilvinec which has a choice of cafés, bars and restaurants. Every afternoon people gather at the harbour to watch the return of the fishing fleet and the subsequent noisy fish auction which is quite a lively spectacle. There is also a street market in Le Guilvinec on Tuesdays, and on Sundays in the summer. Other facilites here are tennis courts, bike hire, more lovely beaches, and there is a also a beach club for children. The Pointe de la Torche, where the championships for windsurfing are often held, is about 10km. Other nearby places of interest include the historic town of Pont l’Abbé and the seaside villages of Penmarch and Loctudy, all within 10km. The area around Penmarch, known as the Pays de Bigouden, is famous for the tall white lace hats or coiffes traditionally worn by Breton women. It is about an hour from Brest airport, 2 hours from Roscoff and 3 hours from Saint Malo.
