Quimper, the oldest city in Brittany, has an enchanting medieval quarter with little cobbled streets and half timbered buildings.

· The Festival de Cornouaille has taken place in Quimper every July since 1923, with music, dance, theatre and traditional costumes.
· For a bird’s eye view of Quimper, follow the footpath up the wooded slopes of Mont Frugy, just nearby.
· The covered market (les Halles) in Quimper is well worth a visit for excellent local produce.
· The Musée de Beaux Arts has some fascinating paintings by artists from in and around Quimper.

B735A, Pont Aven, S. Brittany

Pont Aven is an attractive little port, packed with art galleries. Gaugin came here to paint in the 1880s before he went to Tahiti.

· You can walk in the romantic Bois d’Amour woodland gardens in Pont Aven, where many a poet and painter have found inspiration.
· The annual Festival of Gorse flowers takes place at the end of July in Pont Aven, it has been a folklore tradition since 1905, with the crowning of a queen and flower parades through the streets.
· Before becoming famous for the Pont Aven school of artists, the town was well known for having 15 mills.

B739A, Benodet, S. Brittany

Bénodet, where the river Odet meets the sea, is a lively little town, great for family holidays in Brittany.

· There are four beaches at Bénodet; the Plage de Trez is particularly child-friendly with a beach club and lifeguards from June to September.
· Bénodet culture; Breton evenings, maritime festivals, cinema, concerts and firework displays through the summer.
· Plenty of choice for Al Fresco dining in Bénodet, cafés and restaurants line the streets at the sea front and port.

Perros Guirec is an exceptionally child friendly resort , great for a family beach holiday or as a base for exploring Brittany. It holds a national ‘Kids’ Station award for its outstanding family facilities.

· There are two lovely sandy beaches at Perros Guirec: Trestignel and Trestraou. Three beach clubs for children run in July and August.
· There are coastal walks from Perros Guirec along the spectacular Pink Granite Coast, with its incredible rock formations, especially stunning during a pink sunset.
· Lots of events throughout the year at Perros Guirec, including Art markets and festivals, cycling and walking events and religious pardons.

Morgat is a very pleasant little seaside town with lots of seafront restaurants and a crescent-shaped sheltered sandy beach which has a beach club for children during the summer.

· There are boat trips from Morgat to the Grottes – multicoloured caves in the rocks, only accessible by sea.
· Tuesday night is music night in Morgat throughout the summer, with live bands, folk groups and various musical themes in the local cafés and bars.
· There are lovely coastal walks to explore around Morgat, including a cliff top path to the headland at Cap de la Chèvre.
