Restored Cider Barn, sleeps 12.  500m beach.

Weekly rental EUR 900 - 2100

This newly restored Breton house is in a superb position a short walk from the centre of the picturesque village of Le Pouldu. Le Pouldu has a succession of delightful little coves, one of which is five minute’s walk from the house. This is a very picturesque area, frequented by Gauguin and other artists of the Pont Aven School. In fact this house appears in one of Gauguin's paintings. Originally a cider barn, the house has been re-built using traditional, top quality materials; all the doors and stairs are solid oak. There is an enclosed garden, 600m², with garden furniture and a barbecue for outdoor meals. Inside it has exposed beams and an open fireplace. The house is comfortably furnished, spacious and has a cheerful atmosphere.
Accommodation
On the ground floor there is a spacious living room with comfortable seating, fire-place, television and dining area. The kitchen is attractively fitted and modern: it has a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble-drier, 4-ring hob, oven, microwave and fridge-freezer. There is a downstairs cloakroom with WC in the hall. Bedroom one is on the ground floor and has a wide double bed, 160cm, with an en suite shower room and W.C. Upstairs, bedroom two has three single beds; bedrooms three and four each have a double bed, 140cm. bedroom five has twin beds; bedroom six is a mezzanine with a Breton bed suitable for two children or one adult. There are two more bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower and there is another separate W.C. A cot and high chair are available upon request.

Situation
The property is in an old farming hamlet on the edge of Le Pouldu. Le Pouldu is on the coast about 25km west of Lorient. The house is within easy walking distance of the village and three different beaches. Le Pouldu has a couple of shops and restaurants and there is more choice at the neighbouring village of Clohars Carnoet, 4km. It is 12km to Quimperlé, a picturesque medieval town with excellent facilities: it has a swimming pool, tennis courts, a couple of good restaurants and picturesque half-timbered houses in attractive old streets. It is 15km to Pont Aven, well known for its association with Gauguin and other artists. It has several art galleries and is in a lovely setting with the river flowing through the centre of the town. It is 16km from Riec sur Belon, the oyster capital of the region. Other activities include horse-riding in the Forest of Carnoet and boat trips up the River Laita. There are wonderful walks along the coastal path starting near the property: to Le Pouldu harbour in one direction and on up the picturesque valley of the Laita, and in the other direction, you can walk to the pretty little port of Doelan, about 6km, a good place for lunch!
